Galaxy1 appointed as BGAN M2M distribution partner

25 January 2013: Inmarsat has announced the promotion of its service partner Galaxy1 Communications to top-tier Distribution Partner status for BGAN M2M (Machine-to-Machine). The closer relationship provides Galaxy1 with priority access to Inmarsat resources, services and support, enabling the faster development of new solutions for customers in the utilities, oil & gas and mining sectors.

Significant opportunities continue to emerge as the M2M market maintains its rapid expansion,” said Gerbrand Schalkwijk, Vice President Enterprise Energy at Inmarsat. “Within the oil & gas, mining and utilities sectors, there is growing demand for robust and reliable Mobile Satellite Services (MSS) which can extend the scope of an organisation’s wider area network and provide additional redundancy to support critical services, such as the remote monitoring of pipelines or power grids.

Galaxy1 has successfully pushed the boundaries of satellite communications and, with their proven track record of investment in value-added services and strong technical skills are an excellent M2M partner for Inmarsat.”

Folef Hooft Graafland, Sales Director of Galaxy 1, commented: “This strengthening of our relationship with Inmarsat comes at an important juncture for both our organisations. Our customers increasingly understand the crucial role that MSS can play in strengthening and extending remote monitoring and other M2M capabilities.”

Galaxy1 works with some of North America’s leading utilities businesses, as well as a wide range of other energy-focused enterprises.
